Do NOT ship us your fleeces until you have submitted our order form by email to SirenSongFleeceWorks@gmail.com and received a confirmation, or have talked to A Real Person at Siren Song Fleece Works about your planned order by calling 530-414-8001.

When we receive your fleece, we will weigh it and send you an invoice for the deposit fee. This fee must be paid before you are added to the queue.

Orders are processed in the order received. An approximate ETA will be provided when your order is added to the queue.  CURRENT ESTIMATE 2 MONTHS but may change by the time we get your fleece! Please be patient and kind, this is a small business and we are doing our best to get your fleeces done in a timely manner.

Billing

The deposit is $10/lb incoming weight. This deposit must be paid before we begin processing, and it will be applied to your final invoice.

Your final invoice will include the cost of services rendered, with the deposit applied to the balance, plus California Sales Tax and return shipping cost.

The final invoice must be paid in full before your processed fiber will be shipped or released for pick up. Failure to pay within 90 days from invoice will result in your order being considered abandoned, and we will sell it to recoup our processing charges.

Please Note: Your final batts or roving will be billed by incoming (raw/received) weight. Finished ship weight will be lighter due to loss of dirt, grease, VM, etc. For the best price per pound on what you’ll get back, thoroughly skirt your fleeces before shipping.

Preparing Your Fleece

Fleece MUST be free of bugs, scurf, and solid debris (such as hoof trimmings). Sometimes fleeces are not able to be processed for being too felted or tender. Fleece less than 2 inches and longer than 6 inches will not run well through our equipment.

It is recommended that you remove as much VA (vegetative matter, such as hay and burrs), second cuts, felted, manured, and too-short (less than 2 inches) areas as possible. The cleaner the raw fleece, the better your end product will be.  Skirting is not included; if your fleece requires extra skirting, you will be billed for labor. For basic instructions on how to skirt, visit https://youtu.be/CTHB8XnniuU?si=sGGrJpxRWTqvFa5B.

We do NOT dehair your fleeces. If you require guard hair removal, please do so before shipping. Double-coated fleeces can be separated for an additional fee.

We also recommend that you Do Not pre-wash your fleece.  For one thing, it won’t save you any money as we will still need to re-wash to meet the standards that our equipment requires to function properly. Also, some scouring agents leave a residue that gums up our machines.  Let us do the dirty work, that’s what we’re here for.

We reserve the right to refuse to process fiber for any reason, including, but not limited to, moth or bug infestation, mouse infestation, lice nits, too short or long, gravel, excessive vegetable matter, tenderness, or excessive dirt. Refused fleeces will be returned at the owner's expense or discarded.

Shipping Your Fleece

We are an eco-friendly mill.  Please help us save the earth, ship your fleeces in recyclable or reusable packing materials (please note you will not receive back the same box - raw fleece and finished batts or roving are much different volumes).
